Arizona Breaks Daily COVID-19 Records with 12,314 New Cases and 23 Deaths

A recent article by Ktar News reported a new spike of COVID-19 cases when Arizona health authorities recorded 12,314 new cases and 23 deaths on Tuesday.
Last week, Arizona also saw the highest number of COVID-19 hospitalizations in months, with 3,157 inpatients and 744 people in ICU beds, according to Monday's reports.
The last spike of COVID-19 infections took place in July. Positivity rates increased by 21% at the end of June, and by July 6th, the seven-day case average was 3,844 cases. On July 13th, there were 3,517 inpatients, 970 people in the ICU units, and a positivity rate of 19%.
Most of these metrics were lowered to more stable levels during August and September, with positivity rates going down to 4% in early October. It was only during the first week of December that infection and hospitalization records started to climb. Monday's reports documented 5,575.14 new cases, a positivity rate of 18%, and a 69% increase of the seven-day death average.
While there were claims of delayed test results corresponding to the Thanksgiving weekend,
the Arizona Department of Health Services continues reporting daily count records.
